So here is my travel journal from my backpacking trip to Europe. It's more involved than my day log stuff that's already been up the site. There has been some complaining (you know who you are) that my daylog was rather boring and that it focused too much on the details of transportation. I can't promise that this is less boring, but's there's certainly a hell of lot more of it. Occasional parts of the journal have been omitted to protect the (not-so)innocent. These parts really weren't that common, but hey - use your imagination. Keep in mind that this is a journal and things like punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph breaks, grammar, and spelling may or may not been a part of the writing process. Not to mention my almost criminal use of parenthesis. Like my pictures, the writing is quite erratic as far as consistency of content. The journal style kind of mutates over the course of the trip. Read at your own risk.

5/2 - Paris, France Oh my god have I done a lot of walking. Partially to save money and partially because you get to see the city better that way, but oh my god do my legs hurt. I walked at at least 10 or 11 miles yesterday. Yesterday was May Day so most everything was closed, at least for the first half of the day. I had been planning to do a couple more museums, but of course they weren't open. So I ended up doing a walking tour of sorts, seeing the Arc de Triomphe , The Eiffel Tower , and Sacre Coeur , all of which were just about what I expected - beautiful, but very very crowded. I also saw the Moulin Rouge , which was a huge letdown - it's pretty pathetic. The first half of the day I was accompanied by a British(lives in New Zealand) guy named Mark who was one of my roommates. After my ridiculous amount of walking I get back to my room to find a bunch of people sitting around drinking wine. So after going out for crepes and more wine, we all ended going to the eiffel tower late at night (7 of us) to see the view from the top. We ended up going to the middle level, because the top was closed (not that we didn't try we were all running from the Metro station trying to make it on time). We finished the night by going to 'The Fifth' the same bar I've been to the last few nights.
