So here is my travel journal from my backpacking trip to Europe. It's more involved than my day log stuff that's already been up the site. There has been some complaining (you know who you are) that my daylog was rather boring and that it focused too much on the details of transportation. I can't promise that this is less boring, but's there's certainly a hell of lot more of it. Occasional parts of the journal have been omitted to protect the (not-so)innocent. These parts really weren't that common, but hey - use your imagination. Keep in mind that this is a journal and things like punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph breaks, grammar, and spelling may or may not been a part of the writing process. Not to mention my almost criminal use of parenthesis. Like my pictures, the writing is quite erratic as far as consistency of content. The journal style kind of mutates over the course of the trip. Read at your own risk.

6/11 - Edinburgh, Scotland I'm on the bus on my way out of Edinburgh. Almost wishing I stayed another day, it's a nice city. The hostel (High Street Hostel) was actually really nice. Really friendly staff, really filling breakfast(not free, but still cheap), and just a generally nice atmosphere. They also seemed to have a lot of people living there on a semi-permanent basis, actually working in Edinburgh. I did the not very thorough walking tour yesterday. Saw Edinburgh Castle, which in my limited castle experience, is pretty impressive. It's set up on a hill overlooking the town and everywhere you go there's a great view of it. Inside they have various exhibits, from the Scottish crown jewels(which the English stole for a while) to a history of Scottish military history. I also happened to be there for the firing of the 1:00 gun, which is the firing of an artillery every day at (guess) 1:00. After that I went to the train and bus station to check times to Glencoe, and ended up buying a bus ticket for bright and early at 9:15. Went down to Holyrood Park with a sandwich. Sat eating it watching some kids play soccer. Then I did the climb up the big hills there, which gives incredible views of the city. I didn't make it all the way up to Arthur's Seat which is the highest point in the city, as it was getting rather windy and I was somewhat tired. After that, I went back to the hostel and took a nap. I was woken up by a couple of Aussie guys (Bruce and Marty), which was fine cause I didn't want to sleep that long anyway. Talked to them for a while and then we out for, as they put it, a feed and some beers. We went searching for the Burger King that had the 99p (that's pence) specials. After that we went to a pub where we met up with these two Polish girls(Sasha and Anna) they'd met earlier in the day. Sat around talking to them until they went home. We ended up going to a club with some other people we met in the pub. They were Irish, I'm not sure if I got their names right, Clodagh, her sister and sister's boyfriend (they left when we got to the cub), and Roshan. I spent most of the rest of the evening talking and dancing with Clodagh and Roshan. Walked back to the hostel by myself, and then ran into Bruce and Marty(doesn't that sound like a comedy duo?) right as the were getting to the room.
