So here is my travel journal from my backpacking trip to Europe. It's more involved than my day log stuff that's already been up the site. There has been some complaining (you know who you are) that my daylog was rather boring and that it focused too much on the details of transportation. I can't promise that this is less boring, but's there's certainly a hell of lot more of it. Occasional parts of the journal have been omitted to protect the (not-so)innocent. These parts really weren't that common, but hey - use your imagination. Keep in mind that this is a journal and things like punctuation, sentence structure, paragraph breaks, grammar, and spelling may or may not been a part of the writing process. Not to mention my almost criminal use of parenthesis. Like my pictures, the writing is quite erratic as far as consistency of content. The journal style kind of mutates over the course of the trip. Read at your own risk.

5/3 - Paris, France I'm on the train to Versailles, because everyone says you have to go. I'm a little unenthusiastic because I'm tired from going out every night. Last night we got out of the latin quarter and went across the river to a more upscale bar. Cocktails were €8 each. Hanging out with people you meet in hostels is weird, because people are constantly leaving and coming in. It feels like I've been hanging out with the same group of people for 4 days, but the group is a completely different set of people than it was 4 days ago. Nonetheless, everyone is so friendly, that people are saying goodbye to people they just met like they were old friends. -- so other than going out, yesterday I went to the Musee d'Orsay , which seems like the second biggest Museum after the Louvre. It had some really nice stuff. It had a really large impressionist section, but they really didn't do much for me. I'm slowly learning what types of art that I like and what I don't. Speaking of the not liking, I went to the Musee de Cluny earlier, which specializes in Medieval art. I found it quite boring. After a rather expensive but very tasty lunch (quiche and wine), I went to the Catacombs. While standing in line I met some american college students(U Pittsburgh) who were on field trip. The catacombs were very interesting albeit kind of sterilized for tourists. Still, it's still quite a sight to see thousands upon thousands of bones neatly laid out in a corridor. On my walk back to the hostel, I bought a wallet and some new headphones.
