The honeymoon. This journal isn't nearly as interesting as the journal I did for Europe, largely because instead of the travels of a lone, semi-budget concious backpacker getting into ridiculous situations over the course of a couple months, this is a journal of an exhausted couple of newlyweds relaxing in style after the wedding. Enjoy.

6/25 - Miami, FL

And...we're off. Started off the morning by fleeing the honeymoon suite at the Heathman bright and early (thank you Brad). We then ran around the brunch swiftly greeting family members while stuffing down bagels. Following the second round of frantic goodbyes, we headed off to the airport, once again courtesy of my valiant brother. Once there, everything went pretty smoothly, stopping in Dallas, eventually landing in Miami. The fact that we were fleeing record breaking high temperatures in Portland was a nice bonus.

We had a bit of trouble getting to the hotel from there, seeing as how we missed the last shuttle by about 15 minutes. Every cab we tried to take told us to take the other type of cab when we mentioned our hotel (there were different colors for different zones). Somewhat confused at our inability to get taxi drivers to take our money, we finally managed to get a shuttle company to take us, although they took a while to find our apparently obscure hotel in their book. When we got there, the source of our troubles became clear, the Baymont Inn was now a La Quinta; seems it changed sometime since we made the reservation. Would have been nice to know that detail earlier (of course, it might have been in the confirmation email I got last week, but who has time to read the fine print when you're planning a wedding)
