The honeymoon. This journal isn't nearly as interesting as the journal I did for Europe, largely because instead of the travels of a lone, semi-budget concious backpacker getting into ridiculous situations over the course of a couple months, this is a journal of an exhausted couple of newlyweds relaxing in style after the wedding. Enjoy.

6/27 - Isla Colon, Panama Woke to a relaxing breeze wafting through the hole in the thatched roof to our four post, enclosed king size bed. We didn't really leave the resort all day, this was our lay back and relax day (read: wedding recovery). We did some snorkeling right off the back of our hut, there's a ladder going straight into the water. The snorkeling was fun, although the underwater pickings were somewhat sparse. Still, this was Kirstin's first time trying it, so she had a blast.
We also availed ourselves of the traditional canoe that came with the room. We had ideas in our head about hopping from beach to beach in the canoe, but that didn't work for two reasons. First, carrying books and other gear around in the canoe was a bit sketchy due to the fact we were constantly in fear of tipping it over (we had brought a waterproof bag specifically for that purpose, but bear with me). More importantly, there were no beaches. There was plenty of coastline, but everything was lined with mangroves. Very nice, but hardly ideal for laying out. We settled for crossing a to a close shore of mangroves and heading back.
All in all, we did very little all day, and that was perfect. Having had our fill of the relaxing, we scheduled an all day tour for the next day. We finished off the day with what turned out to be a great game of chess that I sadly, but valiantly lost.
