| Visual Age Haikus | ||
| During my stint at WWWood, we used a program called Visual Age for Java(an IBM product) to write most of our code in. Ironically, they stopped using it right about the time that I left (coincidence?). Basically, we hated this program with a burning passion. It's quite buggy and slow. We often had a lot of time on our hands while it was restarting due to a crash, or taking forever to perform simple operations. To pass said time, we took to writing haikus to express our intimate feelings for this lovely product. These haikus aren't limited to Visual Age itself, many are derogatory towards Websphere (another IBM product) or griping about coworkers. | ||

Visual Age is Something that is very slow it is horrible |
Why god why do we have to use visual age Please make the pain stop |
Pain everlasting while we still use IBM the slowness burns me |
|
Waiting & wanting to get something done today websphere really sucks |
Versioning the app inevitable time drain the code merges now |
Progress meter rolls past my eyes I want to cry don't want to export |
|
Time draws on slowly I wish I could be useful but I must version |
looks like another visual age vacation see you guys next year |
please wait - the workspace is not consistent with the repository |
|
hourglass of pain mocks me while I wait to code it's new version time |
Versions rolling on Meters move in slow motion what it is it doing? |
The deadly silence while the work freezes as the save takes forever |
|
Locked Dialog Box Mighty CPU Struggles Who will win the day |
Watch the counter go How many problems are there? Oh, the drama hurts |
Oh the sweet relief the method finally saved the hell took so long? |
|
This beast of burden called visual age should be put out to pasture |
refactor the code why did we let gabe do it I cannot work now |
music in my ears satiating my numb brain nothing happening |
|
looking in the code alien spider pattern oh god get it out |
Watch the bar inch right Die, productivity, die May it rest in peace |
on the horizon IDE redemption looms I'll never see it |
|
Sometimes life just sucks VisualAge draining me I feel like crying |
Pull the version now It will make your life better code was refactored |
Oh how I will miss The agony of waiting Goodbye IDE |
